DSB illustrations

These are two 'fast' wargaming illustrations I did for one of my other blogs. They are both hand drawn line art, vectored in Illustrator then rendered in Photoshop just like mos of my previous figurative digital paintings. At some point I'll make the next step I think and start doing fast, fully digital illustrations for my games. The best part about images like this is I odn't have to please any one but myself.

Condottieri

This image is a sketch I've been playing with over the week end. Its not a big thing, just a quick image in my sketch book, but its serving to awaken a few memories and as a reminder of how much technical stuff I've forgotten in the last ten years. I used to use Bleach and Quink all the time but yesterday I came to understand just how good I used to be!

In the old days I would have painted a picture like this purely with inks, but here I've mixed media and I've used guache instead. It works better I think as the guache has 'more colour'. Its not finished yet, in fact its 'spawning' in several directions. I'll add more soon...

...and if you recognise the pose, it may be because I used a well known Frank Frazetta painting as my inspiration

edited to add:

This is a biro and ink line version with a few minor chances.
